My mom wanted some coasters for her birthday (August 24th) and of course I said I can make some for her.  She choose a red/maroon color and I went from there.  These are easy to make and pretty fast except for waiting on the paint to dry.  So if you need a quick gift idea, here is one for you.

CORK / JAR LID COASTERS

Supplies: Jar Lids, Paint, Sealer, Cork and Stamps
The jar lids and paint are from Wal-Mart, the cork you can get at any crafting store.  I did pick up the circle cork coasters, but you can just get cork squares or a sheet of cork, you have to cut them down to size either way.
Take the flat lid piece and place on the cork, trace around it and cut it out with scissors.  Then lightly sand the edges.  The lid piece measures about 3 1/4″ in diameter.

Paint 2 to 3 coats on the jar lids. I made four.
Use Glossy Accents or similar to glue the jar lids together.
Add a coat of paint sealer.  I used Rangers Multi Medium Matte.
Stamp images on your cork and attach to lids, I used Glossy Accents to attach my cork.  The stamp set I used is Tim Holtz – Cling Set – Nature.

There you have it.  Super fast and easy gift project.
My mom loved hers.
*I did not come up with the idea of coasters using jar lids, it has been around for awhile.
