Christmas Mixed Media and Craft Room

I have been busy, but loving every minute of it. I have been rearranging my craft room because I added a double sided slatewall display. I taught my first class at Crafting at The Nest last Saturday and loved it. It was great. I plan to do that more often now since I had so much fun. I have been making Christmas gifts and having fun with texture paste.

So first I want to share with you my very messy craft room, but I am still cleaning it out and organizing it. I will do more with it after the holidays.

From the Doorway – You can see the double sided slatwall display. It is large, but awesome.

Behind the slatwall I have a bunch of cubes and a small magnet board, which I want to replace with a metal pegboard.

My desk. I am currently using my kitchen table chair. I do need to upgrade to a better chair.

My Martha Stewart drawers. I just love these. It holds all my punches and stamps and much much more.

The whole room. There is a pegboard to the right with Tim Holtz and Graphic 45 staples hanging from it.

Next up…MIXED MEDIA CRAFTS. Now I internet hopped from blog to blog and Pinterest to get inspired. First up is from Tim Holtz blog, Winter Wonderland by Emma Williams. Click HERE to see her original project, below is my version with my alternations to it.

I took a Tabletop Sign wood piece from Joann’s or Michaels. Painted it white. I took wood snowflakes and painted them white and spritz them with Peacock Spray Stain. Then I added paste to the background with glitter and put glue on the snowflakes and stuck them in the wet paste.

I cut out Tim Holtz reindeer out of 3 pieces of chipboard and glued them together. I used Walnut Stain Paint, Antique Bronze Stain (because I didn’t have the paint) and Gold paint. Emma did not use gold, but I like the look with gold.

I colored my sleigh with Barn Door paint and Gold. You need 2.

The middle pieces are 1 x 2 1/4 and 1″ x 1″ painted gold, then glued with glossy accents.

The deer gets antique linen glitter on the antlers. The wreath is sprayed with Tarnished Brass Spray Stain and then dipped in glossy accents with glitter added. I cut the wreath to put around the reindeer’s neck. Then add a gem for the eye.

The trees are also Tim Holtz, sprayed with Mowed Grass Spray Stain and then with Peeled Paint Spray Stain just in a few places. The trees get dipped in glossy accents and glitter added to them.

I used Tim Holtz block letters and painted them white and then gold for the lettering part. I then added some bells. To attach everything down, I added a layer of paste to the bottom platform and then glued the pieces down and stuck them in the wet paste. I think it turned out great.

Next project are Christmas Door Hangers. I found two blogs with tags that I loved so I turned them into Door Hangers. The first blog is inkypinkycraft and her version of the tag is HERE. The original tag came from The Funkie Junkie and you can view her version HERE.

You can get door hangers at Joann’s, Michaels or even Hobby Lobby.

I first used spray stain to color the hangers. Then I used a stencil and texture paste to make the background. I tookTim Holtz Ornate Frame and cut it out of grunge board, covered it in glossy accents and added glitter. Then stamped “Merry Christmas”, added holly from a Tim Holtz die and some bells.

I really like these.

I am making a few more things and will post before Christmas to show you the rest of the stuff I’m working on.
