I started getting into altering things, just to try something new.  I went to Joann’s and Michaels to see what was on sell and found a wire basket.  Then went to Wal-Mart and bought some Quart size Jars.  I used Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home paper with an awesome die from Spellbinders and I came up with a great home decor piece.

Below are pictures and description of what I did.  At the end is a video describing the home decor piece.

HOME SWEET HOME
ALTERED WIRE BASKET AND JARS
I love how this piece turned out.  Now to figure out where to place it in my home.
ALTERED WIRE BASKET
The die I used is Spellbinders A2 Devine Eleoquence.

To get an outline background for your die cut, trace around the outer edge of your die and then cut it out with scissors.  Then attach it to your die cut piece for a border.
I used the die to cut out several pieces and used two chipboard pieces.  I also cut out “Home Sweet Home” from the paper collection.  I used burlap for the front of the basket with a strip of paper as an accent piece.
I inked all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added some Tim Holtz Paper String.

This piece I used the larger die from the set and a cut out from the paper collection.  For the cut out piece I traced the inside of the large die and cut it out with scissors.
The basket is 11 3/4″ long, 11″ tall and about 4″ in depth.  I attached all the pieces to the wire basket with either Glossy Accents or Scor Tape.

I made a couple more stacked pieces for the sides and uses two circle chipboard pieces for the center.
ALTERED JARS
I used Quart size jars from Wal-Mart and painted two jars with Waverly Chalk Paint – Cashew (Wal-Mart) and one jar Folk Art Home Decor Chalk Paint – Java (Joann’s).  I used two coats.  Make sure to clean your jars with alcohol first before painting them.  Once dried, I splatter painted the jars with opposite colors using a toothbrush.  I think they turned out awesome.
I used the same die again for the jars.  For the small piece, I traced the inside of the die cut and then cut it out with scissors.
Inked the edges with Vintage Photo and added a sticker from the Home Sweet Home collection.
I used burlap again to go around the jar and then added my stacked decorative piece.

 The flowers are from Joann’s.
I think everything turned out great.  The colors in the flowers brings out the colors in the paper perfectly.
This was so fun to make and will definitely have to do it again.
