This is the first time I have participated in the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge.  This challenge goes off of Tim Holtz book, Compendium of Curiosities Vol III.  This challenge, I believe, is bi-weekly.  This weeks challenge is from page 44, Eroded Metallic technique.  The challenge is hosted by Linda Ledbetter and click HERE to get to her blog.  So if you want to join in on the challenge, go to Linda’s website to read all the rules and how to participate.  You have a chance to win Tim Holtz products and a gift certificate from their sponsor, Inspiration Emporium.

Here is my take on the challenge:
ERODED METALLIC BUTTERFLY TAG

For the challenge you must own your own copy of the book, you can get a copy HERE.  You cannot share the technique just your project.

Here a some details on my tag:

First I did the Eroded Metallic technique, which does take practice.  Then did some stamping, Tim Holtz “French Memories”
Next, I did some splattering, first with the Marker Spritzer (black marker) and then with a toothbrush and black soot paint.

The die cut is BoBunny 3 x 4 Lattice Frame Dies.  The “Hello Friend” stamps are Tim Holtz “Saying Stuff.”  The stars are Tim Holtz Mirrorstars inked with gold alcohol ink.
The black lattice piece is the same BoBunny one.
Close Up Pictures:
The butterflies are Tim Holtz Butterfly Duo which is a die cut and texture fade.  The butterflies has the same eroded metallic technique and then black soot paint rubbed on the raised parts of the butterfly.

I love how this tag turned out and will definitely use this technique again.
Again, if you wish to participate this challenge goes until June 5, 2015.  Just visit Linda Ledbetter’s blog HERE.  For FAQ on this challenge, go HERE.  And this weeks sponsor is Inspiration Emporium.

  5. Wow Melissa! This is a beautiful tag! I so love Tim's Papillon butterfly stamp set and you have used it masterfully here! Your eroded metal background is stunning. Love the black stamped butterflies. Your lattice die cut, sentiment and sweet dimensional butterflies on the top really finish off this tag perfectly. Thanks for sharing your art with us at CC3C. <3 Candy
